PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
